The Department of Cancer Biology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of protein biochemistry, cell culture techniques, molecular biology, and animal models of cancer. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.
Responsibilities may include investigation and development of small molecule inhibitors of S-acylation and their effect on cancer cell growth, using a wide range of approaches including molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology and animal models.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to further develop critical thinking skills, familiarize with related literatures and experimental techniques, prepare manuscripts, present research findings in national and international meeting, and mentor junior scientists.
Candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years postdoctoral experience.
