  • University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is currently seeking a Project Review Manager to join the Department of Facilities Management. 

    The selected candidate for this position is eligible for a sign-on bonus totaling of $12,000. Half of the bonus is payable within the first 30 days of hire and the remaining half is payable after successful completion of a probationary period of 12 months. The sign on bonus is eligible only to candidates new or returning to UMB.

    PRIMARY DUTIES:
    • • Serves as main point of contact and coordinator for design reviews with a wide range of responsibilities.

      • Support all projects by ensuring the review team is carrying out a thorough, efficient, and skilled design review process with reviews.

      • Provide recommendations for the technical direction to designers/engineers and contractors as necessary.

      • Prepare and develop a master schedule for the design reviews.

      • Lead and coordinate the design review process delivery.

      • Establish and communicate clear direction to the design reviewers to ensure all participants understand the goals of a particular review.

      • Coordinate with third party stakeholders.

      • Document and track design review process for all ongoing projects on the Program.

      • Organize, verify, and compile design review comments.

      • Elevate unresolved comments to key team members with recommendations for resolution.

      • Track comment resolution with the design teams and communicate comment resolutions back to the originators.

      • Review and critique inputs from multidisciplinary team, assuring quality, timeliness and appropriate follow thru of process.

      • Adhere to design schedules and review timelines for delivery of work product.

      • Evaluate the Design Review Process on a regular basis and make recommendations for modifications / improvements to the process.

      • Manage team of Reviewers and Senior Reviewers and ensure that work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.

      • Responsible to own and update master specs and design standards for the campus.

      • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s in one of the following options: Architecture, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural, or Architectural Engineering
    • Eight (8) years of experience in design and construction of institutional or commercial building projects.
    • Two (2) years of experience managing staff.
    • Registered and licensed with the Maryland Board for professional engineers or architects preferred, if applicable. Project Management Certificate, CMAA Certified Construction Manager (CCM) preferred.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to support a mission and strategic vision.
