  • Position Summary:

    Under general supervision, procures commodities and services considering price, quantity, delivery, quality, and logistics and carrying costs. Schedules material deliveries, determines delivery methods and ensures a smooth, on-time flow of purchased product parts and services according to the production MRP.

    Essential Functions of the Job:

    Negotiates supplier terms, price, quality, payment, and freight.

    Evaluates vendor's delivery performance and resolves quality problems with products.

    Maintains inventory levels, ratios, and turns in conjunction with Alamo Group objectives and goals.

    Review product back order lists.

    Updates purchase order due dates.

    Sources new vendors and evaluates suppliers overall performance for price, quality, on-time delivery and warranty.

    Create and input purchase orders based on demand and MRP

    Expedites deliveries as needed.

    Addresses shortages on purchase orders.

    Review products that should be dropped from our line.

    Provides technical assistance to customer service, territory managers, and warehouse.

    Assists in reducing obsolete parts.

    Determines product to ship to branch warehouses.

    Maintain an accurate forecast on assigned list of parts.

    Handle all direct ship orders.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):

    Knowledge required of inventory software, order processing systems and MS Office.

    Knowledge required in all units of measure including standard and metric.

    Skill required in courteously and effectively communicating, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization.

    Skill required in data entry, analysis and problem solving

    Skill required in performing mathematical calculations including all units of measure, fractions, and decimals, ratios, percentages and rates.

    Ability to coordinate multiple activities.

    Education and Experience:

    Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent work experience.

    Chassis and steel background preferred.

    APICS certification a plus.

    5-7 years in inventory/production control, purchasing or scheduling.

    Working Conditions:

    Normal office environment. Frequent walking around manufacturing facility.

    Some travel required. Able to work overtime as needed
