Life's Journey is Like a Canoe Trip

Posted by

I learned over the years that life is like a canoe trip down a winding river. Most of the time you can only see up to the next bend in the river. It can be frustrating and stressful if you are in rough waters and it begins to rain, or, trying to paddle against the current or wind, and you feel like quitting. However, once you make it to the next bend in the river, it changes. It stops raining and the sun comes out, the current slows and the wind stops blowing.

You notice after you have stopped and rested for a day or two that you feel stronger. The rough journey has actually made your muscles in your arms and shoulders stronger. You are now ready to continue your journey down this river.

Now, imagine you have the advantage of looking down from a helicopter and you can now see your life from above. You can now see where it is heading. You see the twists and turns, the tough times and the good times, the prosperity and the success your will have with your new career. You know that there will be other challenges and difficulties you will experience. But, you now know that life is a game that is designed to help you grow stronger and make life even more exciting.

By "deciding" to take on this challenge of living a fulfilled life, you will develop the tools that will help you grow and handle the future. Remember the story of Darby from the book entitled, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill? He didn't quit life because he lost all his own and his investor's money in the gold mine when he was only 3 feet short of the mother lode of gold. He went into the insurance business, learned the tools to become successful and never quit. He eventually became very wealthy.

It is not an accident that you are experiencing challenges with your career path. We all do. Let me repeat that last statement, WE ALL DO! But the people who become successful don't quit. Remember these challenges are designed to help you grow and fulfill your life's potential. Now is the time to start acquiring additional tools to improve yourself and taking the steps to becoming more successful.
