How To Stand Out

When you’re called for an interview, it means the interviewer has already culled the applications. They’re interested in what you have to offer but also what the ten people in front of you do too. How do you make yourself stand out from everyone else for the sales office manager job? You need to let the interviewer know what makes you unique and why you are the best candidate for the job. You need to determine your strengths and skills and make the interviewer aware of them.
 
For example, what about your technical skills? Do you have any degrees? What about schooling? Is anything you did in your previous job relevant to what can be used for this job? Make sure you have a good example of your skills and how you used them. Is there anything that can be used from previous performance appraisals?
 
Are your skills transferable? There are skills that you can take with you to any other jobs. Do you communicate well and get along with your co-workers? Did you get your projects finished and turned in on time? Are you a team player? Are you a leader that other people follow and listen to?
 
Make sure you accent your positive traits. Are you cheerful and have a great attitude? Do you go the extra mile and put a little extra effort in everything you do? Are you on time, awake and alert? Do you keep personal issues out of the office?
 
Go through job postings and take notes of key words. What are employers looking for? What words show up all the time? When applying for a position, you need to know what you’re up against. If some of the words appear frequently, like “team player“, " strong organizational skills”, for example, make sure they are worked into your interview to your advantage. Make sure the key things you feel the interviewer needs to understand about you by the end of the interview are covered. By the end of your interview, make sure they know what you would bring to the organization if hired.
 
Be sure that if you’re interested in the job, that you show enthusiasm. You don’t want to leave the interviewer wondering if you really want the job. In a job market that has so many competitors, enthusiasm will make you stand out.
 
By having examples of your accomplishments, you can demonstrate that you’re right for the job. You have to show that you have what it takes to stand out!
