    Join our team of electrical, mechanical, software and system engineers working with technicians to develop the latest technology in the Integrated Products Division (IPD) of Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc. Our interns are valued members of the team, tasked with work that is critical to the success of our projects. Project tasks for this internship will include analysis, development, validation, and documentation for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Vehicle systems supporting delivery to meet ARA customer requirements. Additional work will include development of simulated environments, including 5-DoF simulation rig, for testing prototype vehicles and quickly iterating on ADAS functionality as well as state-of-the-art machine learning techniques for autonomous vehicle control.

    This Technical Intern position is to directly support the IPD team in development and application of Modular Robotic Applique Kit (M-RAK) and associated customer specific vehicle platform features.

    This is a paid, full-time internship opportunity.

    • What you'll do as a Technical Intern 3

    • Aiding engineers, scientists, and senior technicians in the development of robotic and sensor components and applications,toinclude:

    • Performing analysis of subsystem / system level design features.

    • Participating in design artifact generation and review.

    • Gain experience with embedded controls and interfaces.

    • Developing physics-based simulations to benchmark and validate ADAS software.

    • Technical Intern 3 Requirements

    • Must be agraduate levelstudent (junior/senior level undergraduate with appropriate experiences considered) actively pursuing a degree in Automotive, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Software engineering.

    • Must be able to apply analytic tools to support design processes.

    • Strong problem-solving skills - with ability to troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems.

    • Must be familiar with creating and comprehending schematics, mechanical drawings and system interface documents.

    • Must be familiar with test instrumentation, designed experimentation and supporting analysis.

    • Must be able to effectively communicate and work within a team.

    • Technical intern 3 Preferences

    • OrCAD, or equivalent experience

    • SolidWorks Familiarity

    • Familiarity with basic software development methodologies

    • Familiarity with Linux, Git,Matlab, Python, C++, and/or ROS a plus
