    PeaceHealth is seeking a Surgical Technologist for our Operating Room for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day shift position .

    The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $36.55 - $54.83. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

    Essential Functions

    • Arrange and inventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the surgical team.

    • Understand and apply the principles of asepsis. Establish and maintain sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment.

    • Assist in preparation and moving of patients.

    • Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation. Assists with clean-up and room turnover.

    • Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images.

    • Participates in all safety initiatives. Adheres to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education (see Oregon specific requirements below)

    • Preferred: Degree from an accredited Surgical Technology program or recognized course of training as a Surgical Technologist

    Experience (see Oregon specific requirements below)

    • 1 year Preferred: Experience as a surgical technologist in a full-service operating room

    • Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient's needs.

    Credentials

    • Required: Surgical Technician - Washington (Washington Requirement)

    • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support

    • Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist (see Oregon specific requirements below)

    Department / Location Specific Notes

    OREGON:

    • Must meeting following:

    • Completion of an educational program for surgical technologists accredited by a national accreditation organization approved by the Oregon Health Authority AND

    • Holds and maintains a surgical technologist certification issued by a nationally accredited certifying organization for surgical technologists.

    • In lieu of above, must have completed a US Military Surgical Technologist Training Program and must complete 16 hours of continuing education every two years.

    • For those who have practiced surgical technology in a health care facility in Oregon or another state or as an employee of an agency or institution of the federal government for at least two of the three years prior to January 1, 2017, certification is not required but caregiver must complete 16 hours of continuing education every two years.

    • CVOR- 2 years Cardiac Surgery OR (CVOR) CST experience.

    Surgical Services

    • May be required to provide scheduling support during non-standard business hours.

    • May be required to schedule surgical cases.

    Skills

    • Well organized, detail oriented and self motivated (Required)

    • Ability to coordinate activities and work collaboratively with others (Required)

    • Ability to execute detailed procedures with accuracy and precision (Required)

    • Basic computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications (Required)

    • Understanding of operating room protocols (Required)

    Working Conditions

    Lifting

    • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).

    • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.

    • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.

    • Frequent reaching/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling/ grasping.

    • Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs.

    • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 20 lbs. force. Occasional up to 30 lbs. force.

    Environmental Conditions

    • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.

    • Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.

    • Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

    Mental/Visual

    • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

    • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
