    The Sr. Electrical Engineer for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for sustaining existing instrumentation designs, working on next-generation analyzers, and evaluating total lab automation solutions, all critical components of a Microbiology lab and revenue enablers for our business.

    This position is part of the Microbiology Business Unit located in West Sacramento, California and will be on-site at least 3 days a week. The manufacturing of the instruments is located at a Beckman Coulter facility in Miami, FL with potential travel to the site.     You will be part of the Hardware & Systems Engineering team and report to the Senior Manager responsible for Hardware and Systems Engineering function. If you thrive in a dynamic, agile and leadership role and want to work to build a world-class R&D organization-read on.

    In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

    • Plan projects, design and develop electrical engineering solutions, generate necessary documentation, and perform verification of the designed component/subsystem.

    • Support the lifecycle of the existing PCBA and associated components by identifying alternatives or via redesign.

    • Support root cause analysis of failures during manufacturing of instrument or field returns

    • Support design and development of new products in the portfolio

    The essential requirements of the job include

    • BS in Electrical or Electronics Engineering

    • 5+ years of relevant work experience

    • Experience in the design, development, and maintenance of complex hardware instruments, with an emphasis on analog and digital circuit design and signal conditioning experience

    • Experience in PCB schematic, layout, component selection, cabling, and assembly design

    • IVD experience, QSR/ISO regulations & standards and risk management (ISO14971) in a regulated environment

    It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in

    • Microbiology, Automated diagnostic, or life science Product Development

    • AC to DC power distribution system experience

    • Embedded software development

    • Design and support for electrical safety of a product (EMC)

    • Experience working with internal and external R&D teams

    • Visual project management

    The salary range OR the hourly range for this role is $120,000-$130,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

    This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
