Research Internships at Microsoft provide a dynamic environment for research careers with a network of world-class research labs led by globally-recognized scientists and engineers, who pursue innovation in a range of scientific and technical disciplines to help solve complex challenges in diverse fields, including computing, healthcare, economics, and the environment.
Semantic Machines is looking to hire research interns to help invent the next generation of conversational AI. Our mission is to understand the language and behavior of our users as they work and collaborate using Microsoft productivity apps and their Copilots, which are GPT-4-powered dialogue agents that connect to real-world APIs. Our work focuses on:
Training, controlling, rapidly modifying, and automatically adapting Copilot behaviors
Decomposition and reasoning to handle user requests
Modeling user actions (non-linguistic behavior)
Grounding and attribution within Copilot responses
LLM inference cost and latency reduction
Model-assisted data collection and evaluation
Memory and personalization
New open-domain, multimodal, and contextual dialogue experiences
Machine learning approaches to support these goals
