    The BioFrontiers Institute's Advanced Light Microscopy Core (ALMC) is seeking a self-motivated individual with technical experience to become the newest member of this critical resource. The selected candidate will support the BioFrontiers Institute, the ALMC, and the greater scientific community by 1) providing general microscopy support to our Users, 2) leading image and data analysis using commercial tools, and 3) coordinating advanced image analysis support by collaborating with Biological Image Analysis Group Leader.

    What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

    Microscopy Support

    • Provide one-on-one or small group trainings on conventional microscopes and related camera-based imaging modalities (i.e., widefield, spinning disc confocal).

    • Perform regular quality control/quality assurance checks on the microscopes, compiling an ongoing account of the status of the instrumentation.

    • Offer general and responsive microscopy support.

    • Use creative problem solving to enable the success of our users.

    • Help develop informational and educational microscopy resources.

    • Coordinate with the Core Director to pursue relevant educational opportunities to expand microscopy skills.

    Image Analysis Support

    • Provide one-on-one or small group trainings in commercial image analysis tools.

    • Offer general and responsive image analysis support.

    • Help develop informational and educational image analysis resources.

    • Coordinate with the Biological Image Analysis Group Leader and the Core Director to develop a robust, clear, and thorough image analysis support pipeline involving both commercial and custom-developed image analysis solutions.

    • Coordinate with the Biological Image Analysis Group Leader and Core Director to pursue relevant educational opportunities to expand image analysis skills.

    General Core Support

    • Coordinate with the Core Director and Biological Image Analysis Group Leader on microscopy and image analysis trainings.

    • Provide general core support including assisting in troubleshooting, general maintenance, and regular quality control studies on the microscopes and analysis workstations.

    • Regularly communicate with Core Users to ensure the appropriate use of the instrumentation and to augment the visibility and impact of the Core.

    • Attend and participate in the ALMC group meetings.

    • Participate in the day-to-day facility operation including ensuring general cleanliness and organization of the Core, ordering of supplies, and using with our online reservation system.

    • Work with the Core Director to acquire relevant data for grant applications.

    • Support other duties related to the functioning of the ALMC as they arise.

    What We Can Offer

    • Salary range between $61,008.00 - $64,356.00.

    • Relocation assistance is available per department guidelines.

    • A PhD degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biology, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics).
