    Responsibilities

    Manages, installs, troubleshoots, and repairs complex equipment involving work of a varied nature with minimum supervision, resulting in efficient operation of plant equipment and facilities.

    Maintenance

    • Maintains time and production records

    • Ensures all equipment is functioning optimal to meet required cycle times and present data and reports to conclude performance.

    • Schedule subordinates responsible for dismantling, re-installing and assembly of machinery and plant equipment.

    • Conducts and plans projects within plant budget.

    • Conifers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

    • Diagnoses production equipment failures

    • Manages repairs and reassembles production equipment

    • Manages work in mechanical skills area such as Abrasives, Cutting, etc

    • Manages electrical work such as removing and replacing motors, fuses, and cables; installing conduit; and pulling wire

    • Manages routine preventative maintenance tasks

    • Maintains equipment PM logbooks, hazardous waste and scrap removal.

    • Manages routine building maintenance and facilities equipment. Including but not limited to boilers, air handling units, heating and cooling equipment.

    • Record maintenance data and activities to track proper maintenance of facilities equipment.

    • Carry out routine servicing of facilities equipment as part of measures to prevent breakdowns and malfunctions, which could affect production activities and mitigate the need for more expensive repair/s.

    • Utilize and interpret equipment manuals to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.

    • Generates purchase requisitions if necessary

    • Ensures completion of work orders

    • Verifies PM work has been completed

    • Be available for assistance as required although the majority of work is anticipated to occur during normal business hours

    Safety

    • Provide initial and continued training to members regarding safety policies, life safety procedures, safety culture and other safety programs.

    • Determine the appropriate additional or renewed training, considering changes in operations, modernization regarding new exposures, accident histories, and any members returning from an extended absence.

    • Ensure facility and equipment compliance with OSHA related regulations and maintain proper records.

    • Educate and support operations in accident investigation techniques

    • Communicates with all levels of management regarding risk control information

    • Assists in the adoption of standardized "best practices" to optimize safety.

    • Coordinate all safety efforts with the Corporate Safety Manager and participate with all departments within the facility.

    • Adherence to the Risk Control Plan (RCAP), practices, policies, and procedures that cover a wide range of company and regulatory agency required activities.

    • Participate in Operation staff and safety meetings.

    • Assist with developing and reviewing accident statistical reports to focus efforts on injury prevention, trends, and corrective actions.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Safety or a closely related field and/or previous experience in safety/loss control preferred.

    • Seven to ten years of experience in Safety, Maintenance, or a related field

    • Previous training and auditing experience preferred

    • Familiarity with warehousing operations and knowledge of the impact on OSHA regulations

    • Understanding and knowledge of Lean Principles, 6s color standards and benefits of 6s in the workplace.

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

    • Ability to perform basic mathematics

    • Ability to work effectively with Microsoft Office software

    • Excellent communication skills
