    Applied Research Solutions is seeking a full-time Graphics Illustrator/Designer for Technical Manuals and Flight Manuals at a corporate partner's facility in Cincinnati, OH. The primary function of this role is creating, updating, and maintaining graphical content related to aircraft operation, maintenance, and repair procedures. This includes designing clear and concise illustrations for technical procedures, emergency techniques, system malfunction responses, and other related documents. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, pilots, and quality assurance teams to ensure that all graphical content is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with industry standards and regulations

    Responsibilities include:

    • Develop, design, and edit graphical content for technical manuals and other technical documents for aircraft operation and maintenance, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, including S1000D, to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions.

    • Conduct analysis for flight-related tasks such as emergency procedures, normal operations, system malfunction responses, and maintenance tasks, and translate these into clear and concise graphical representations.

    • Incorporate Design Engineering Data, including drawings, 3D models, and digital aircraft information, into graphical content to provide comprehensive visual instructions for flight, operation, and maintenance.

    • Create and maintain graphics for Aircraft Data Sheets (ADS) and Support Equipment Technical Data Sheets (TDS) with detailed graphical information on the proper use, maintenance, and calibration of aircraft systems and support equipment.

    • Develop graphics/illustrations for Authorized Flight Instructions (AFI) and Authorized Repair Instructions (ARI) with guiding illustrations to guide pilots and technicians in performing authorized procedures and repairs on aircraft, ensuring compliance with OEM specifications and industry standards.

    • Collaborate with engineers, pilots, and mechanics to gather necessary information for graphical content, including input on flight procedures, emergency techniques, troubleshooting steps, and maintenance procedures.

    • Review and update existing graphical content in technical manuals, ADS, TDS, AFI, and ARI to ensure accuracy and compliance with changes in equipment, procedures, and regulations.

    • Work with quality assurance teams to ensure all graphical content in technical manuals and related documents meet quality standards.

    • Coordinate with training teams to develop training materials based on graphical content in technical manuals and other technical documents.

    • Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology, flight procedures, maintenance procedures, and graphical content.

    • Ensure all graphical content in technical manuals and related documents comply with industry standards and regulations, including but not limited to FAA Regulations, ICAO Standards, OEM Specifications, and Military Standards and Specifications.

    • Other duties as assigned

    Basic Qualifications/ Technical Experience Requirements:

    • Must be US Citizen

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in graphics illustration or related fields. Will consider 6 years with Bachelor's Degree.

    • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including FAA Regulations, ICAO Standards, OEM Specifications, and Military Standards and Specifications.

    • Strong knowledge of aircraft systems, flight procedures, maintenance procedures, and emergency techniques.

    • Experience in conducting analysis for flight-related tasks, maintenance tasks, and translating these into graphical content.

    • Experience with raster graphics with various compression formats; vector graphics including EPS/EPSI, CGM and SVG formats; and AutoCAD, Solid Works or other computer-aided drafting formats.

    • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly graphical content.

    • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in creating graphical content for technical manuals, flight manuals, or related technical documentation, with knowledge of S1000D principles and guidelines.

    • Experience in interpreting and incorporating Design Engineering Data, including drawings, 3D models, and digital aircraft information, into graphical content.

    • Familiarity with creating and maintaining Aircraft Data Sheets (ADS), Support Equipment Technical Data Sheets (TDS), Authorized Flight Instructions (AFI), and Authorized Repair Instructions (ARI) with graphical content.

    • Excellent visual communication skills.

    • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

    • Excellent knowledge and demonstrated work experience using graphic design software: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and other relevant tools.

    Working Conditions:

    • This position may require occasional travel to various flight facilities for on-site observation and data collection. The Graphics Illustrator/Designer for Technical Manuals and Flight Manuals may also need to work in a hangar or cockpit environment on occasion to gain hands-on experience with the aircraft systems they are illustrating.
