    Our client in Castro Valley is seeking an interim Finance Manager to support the organization on a part-time bases, approximately 8 hours per week. Ideally the work would be performed at the client site. This role involves overseeing financial management tasks such as budgeting, audit preparation, and year-end close activities. The Finance Manager will also be responsible for managing reporting duties and working with different stakeholders to provide monthly financials. Expected pay for this role is $80-$90/hr.

    Responsibilities

    • Oversee the work of accounting clerk, reviewing general ledger entries.

    • Manage the preparation and presentation of monthly financial reports, such as revenue/expense reports, cash flow statements, and check disbursement reports.

    • Coordinate with external auditors, ensuring all documentation is provided as required.

    • Guide the organization through year-end close procedures.

    • Provide strategic input on budgeting, financial statement preparation, and management reporting.

    • Ensure timely and accurate filing of reports for state controllers, ACFR (former CAFR), and bond filings.

    • Collaborate with different leaders within the organization to meet financial objectives.

    • Monitor and manage federal government reporting procedures.

    • Oversee special projects related to financial management as required.

    • Utilize ERP software for efficient financial management.

    Requirements

    • Must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in a finance-related role, preferably within the local government/municipality sector

    • Proficient in federal government reporting and dealing with municipalities

    • Demonstrated experience in budgeting and financial statement preparation

    • Strong capabilities in management reporting

    • Proven track record in audit preparation and year-end close processes

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required, Master's degree preferred

    • CPA or other relevant certification is a plus

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation

    • Experience with financial software and systems

    • Strong understanding of laws and regulations related to government financial management
