Title: Material Coordinator SCA WASS Location: United States-Florida-Melbourne Job Number: 11028 SUMMARY Coordinates and expedites flow of material, parts, and assemblies into facility and out of facility, within or between departments, within or between sites in accordance with shipping/receiving schedules or department supervisors priorities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - In handling unusual non-routine problems, this worker receives specific guidance from supervisor or other officials. - Reviews schedules and confers with supervisors to determine products required or overdue and to locate product, requisitions products and establishes delivery sequences according to priorities and anticipated availability. - May direct and coordinate the activities of other workers engaged in handling goods to be shipped or being received. - Verify that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against documents - Arranges for transfers of materials to meet schedules, and coordinates with department supervisors for repair and assembly of material and its transportation, and examines items delivered to verify if type specified. - Insures that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles, and preparing and keeping records of goods shipped, e.g., manifests, bills of lading. - Verifying the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records, checking for damaged goods, insuring that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishment, and preparing and keeping records of goods received. - Understands and follows company procedures and work instructions relating to the shipping process. - Processes shipping requisitions of materials and inventory to CONUS and OCONUS locations, as required.- Uses company policies and procedures for packing components and materials into boxes, tri-walls, and pallets. - Researches and provides inputs to multiple departments regarding shipments and options for shipping. - Fully understand and adhere to all ITAR regulations. - Trains other employees in proper procedures. - Plans and coordinates with Supervisor(s) for any large or complex shipments. - Solicits shipping bids from Freight Forwarders and shipping vendors in order to obtain the lowest shipment costs for a particular shipment. - Enters and updates inventory information into appropriate computer data base as directed by supervisor. - Creates Commercial Invoices (CI) for international shipments. - Works with the trade compliance to ensure that all materials and goods are properly classified for international shipments and approved. - Works with FedEx, DHL, various Freight Forwarders, and Common Carriers to ensure timely processing of shipments daily. - Assures that all shipments containing hazardous or dangerous goods are packaged and handled in accordance with applicable rules and regulations. - Operates forklifts, pallet loaders, pallet jacks, packing machines, package scales, and other equipment related to the shipping process. - Prioritize workload and have flexibility to adjust based on position requirements. - Compiles and maintains manual or computerized records such as material inventory, in-process reports, and status and location of materials - Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.- Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum of an MRPT. - Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATIONREQUIRED - High school diploma or GEDPREFERRED - AA degree from an accredited university or college - 6K - 10K Forklift Operator SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEREQUIRED - Ability to apply acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete task of moderate scope and complexity. - Exercises judgement within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. - Must be able to work in a fast paced environment. - Must be able to multi-task. - Proficient Microsoft skills (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point). - Good communication skills are a must. PREFERRED - Two (2) years of previous supply/logistics experience. - Experience with EASE software and/or similar systems. - Experience with FedEx, DHL, or UPS software systems governing the assignment of Air Way Bills (AWB). - Dangerous Goods training.
