  • Thank you for considering a career at Mercy HealthPrimary Function/General PurposeThe protective services Emergency Communications Manager will oversee the operations of the dispatch center, badging procedures and access control systems. He/she will have a broad knowledge base of multichannel radios, computer-aided dispatch systems, access control systems, CCTV, alarm systems and any other security related systems. The ability to train and educate general users and line staff while maintaining a professional classroom setting.Essential Job Functions+ The Manager is responsible for the 24/7 supervision of the Mercy Health Protective Services Dispatch Team. He or she will manage and prepare staffing schedules and manage staffing shortages.+ The manager will conduct quarterly check-ins with department employees, ensure compliance with annual competency training required for individual positions and any organizational mandatory training. Ensure employee compliance with established Bon Secours Mercy Health policies and procedures. He or she will have knowledge of the timekeeping procedures and ensure timecards are completed and accurate.+ The manager will coordinate with the recruitment department with the hiring of new employees and all new hire orientation and onboarding processes. He or she will have direct input into any disciplinary / coaching actions and ensure they are documented appropriately and comply with the Human Resources policies and procedures.+ Have general knowledge, understanding and ability to train dispatchers in all areas of the dispatch center to include but not limited to, badging, receiving and disseminating critical information for both emergency and non-emergency calls, use of radio and computer equipment, prioritizing of calls, relaying descriptions and other important information, gathering information (i.e. who, what, when, where, why and how), monitoring and troubleshooting alarm systems, CCTV, access control, fire alarm, building automation and control.+ Performs programming on security systems with the ability to add, maintain, change, display, terminate and report on the parameters for the following data base configuration, terminal configurations, access groups, area groups, terminal groups, time zones, override time zones, events, acknowledge alarms hardware devices, alarm input, alarm input point, alarm messages, cardholders holiday schedules.+ Communicate system shut down and start-ups. Works with IT and outside vendors to ensure routine backups of data.+ Provides training as needed to department employees and other appropriate individuals or teams on dispatch functions and operations. Plays a critical role in the development of emergent and non-emergent dispatch and communication operations.+ Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills required. Interacts with contractors, service technicians, project managers and salesman regarding hardware components for the purpose of service, diagnostics and purchasing of components.+ Assists with investigations of suspicious and or illegal activity, i.e. unauthorized access to secured areas controlled by a security system.+ Ability to respond during off hours in the event of system failures, disasters or any other situation where additional resources would be needed.+ All other duties as assignedEmployment/Education RequirementsRequired Minimum Education:2 Year/ Associates DegreeSpecialty/Major: Communications / Technology / Management / Public Safety, Emergency Management / Criminal JusticePreferred Education:4 year/ Bachelors DegreeSpecialty/Major: Communications / Technology / Management / Public Safety, Emergency Management / Criminal JusticeLicensure/Certification Required:Previous supervisory / management experienceLicensure/Certification Preferred:HICS, NIMS 100, 200, 700 & 800Minimum QualificationsMinimum Years and Type of Experience:5 or moreOther Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Computer skills; Microsoft Office, Word & Excel.
