  • GCI's Director of Integrated Product is responsible for leading support and development enhancements to support our integrated partners. Bring executional skill and a mastery of balancing multiple priorities that will strengthen the stability, performance, and capabilities of the organization. Understand the variety of integration methodologies being offered to our partners. Drive team to balance speed and executional excellence. Actively identifying and removing impediments that may impact team velocity or deliverables. Partnering with Product Managers to collaborate with the business team and external partners. Develop and maintain a healthy working relationship with other functional teams throughout the organization .

    Provide strategic leadership for a team charged with the responsibility for product strategy, product development, on-going life-cycle management, and the overall market success of assigned products & services as well as leading the implementation of GCI's Integrated Product Framework across the organization.

    Essential Position Duties: This position requires the Director to:
    • Fully own the mission, goals, operations, and results of the department. This responsibility is non-delegable.

    • Provide strong leadership to the VP's direct and indirect reports. This leadership includes generating enthusiasm and shared commitment; identifying and setting new directions; teaching, growing, and empowering; owning outcomes; and leading by example. This responsibility is non-delegable. Specific leadership duties include:

    • Establishing the vision and tone for the department, consistent with company culture and mission;

    • Establishing clear goals and performance expectations.

    • Hiring individuals who can accomplish those goals and meet those expectations, and providing them the open communications, training, tools, and mentoring they need to be successful and develop professionally, and a development path commensurate with capabilities and potential.

    • Providing clear and accurate feedback to individuals and teams on a timely and consistent basis. Identifying and addressing performance problems early and effectively before they damage GCI's interests and demoralize other employees. These processes include annual performance reviews, compensation adjustments, promotions, demotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions up to and including termination.

    60% Integrated Product Framework Oversight - Supports departmental list of project priorities and status reporting. Communicates and contributes to the refinement of project and product life cycle methodologies. Ensures all department staff understand and follow methodologies, policies and principles as appropriate for the situation and scale of the project. In conjunction with core product portfolio leadership, schedules and drives deliverables related to all product 5 year strategy planning and annual project and departmental budgeting efforts. Maintains focus on the delivery of Company product projects and initiatives within assigned scope and schedule that meet and/or exceed expectations. Coordinates departmental prioritization of active and pending projects with an eye to balancing resource constraints and costs. Coordinates with Project Managers within the department and acts as primary liaison between Product and service delivery organizations (IT, Network Services etc.) to ensure deliverables are being achieved. May occasionally perform the role of Project Manager in some critical projects. Leads product project teams and instills a proactive planning discipline for all projects and operational processes. Directs Project Managers to ensure they are r esponsible for:

    • Overall delivery of the project ensuring it meets scope, schedule and budget.

    • Developing detailed project plan that includes efforts from all departments impacted by the project.

    • Management and tracking of all project tasks.

    • Financial reporting of all aspects of the project.

    40% Product Strategy- In consultation with company leadership, support the development and documentation strategy for integrated core product service offerings that cross legacy functional silos.

    • Lead the development & coordination of five (5) year high level product roadmaps and associated capital plan and operating forecast across core products.

    • Evaluate new opportunities and concepts submitted by staff and stakeholders for roadmap inclusion.

    • In support of fave (5) year strategy, oversee and maintain 24 month tactical development roadmap for core products and integrated services collaborating with other portfolio owners.

    • Coordinate with other portfolio owners to align efforts and ensure GCI's products co-exist coherently and maximize value.

Ability to act as a positive mentor and coach to subordinates and instill a coaching environment in the organization. Well-developed leadership skills including work definition, goal setting, feedback, scoring and coaching abilities. Managing performance, motivation, and counseling of different levels of employees in a combined Product, Engineering and Operating environment.

    • Financial skills- Ability to develop detailed capital and operating budgets for the department. Familiar with reporting and tracking tools necessary to assure budget guidelines meet expectations.

    • Analytical skills- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex challenging problems , technical situations and situations leading to optimal solutions.

    • Organizational skills- Ability to develop the organization necessary to meet the group mission and to interface with other units within the company while maintaining moral and personal growth for employees.

    • Communications skills- Excellent verbal and written communication required. Must be able to articulate information in presentation format in front of internal and external customers.

    • People skills- Demonstrated excellent ability to manage performance through motivation and counseling of different levels of employees. Ability to successfully interact and collaborate with colleagues, customers, operating and technical staff, executive management and other departments.

    Years of Experience required to meet minimum qualifications: Must have a minimum of twelve years (12) of professional telecommunications product development, marketing, service delivery or project management experience in leadership roles, including a minimum of five years of progressive managerial/supervisory experience with proven experience building and leading strong teams.

    Level of Education required to meet minimum qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, business or related field required. MBA preferred and may contribute toward professional experience on a year for year basis.

    Certifications: Industry specific certifications are highly valued and can contribute toward education. Preferred: Project Management Institute (PMI) Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or ongoing PMI-sanctioned training is highly desired.

    Number of Direct Reports: 1-10

    Physical Requirements: Predominantly an office position requiring sedentary work. Physical effort may include stooping, kneeling, touching, feeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, keyboarding, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Clarity of vision to see near, mid-range, and color. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

    Working Conditions: Primarily an office environment. The position location may vary depending on need. Must be able to remain productive with interruptions, distractions and noise. This position may require extended hours and/or weekend schedules and travel throughout the state. The company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to public health and safety matters or other business emergencies. Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the normal business hours to respond to the immediate emergency. As such, you will be required to provide emergency after hours contact numbers, to include your home and cell phone numbers if you have those services.

    Driving Requirements (if applicable): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, proof of insurance and a satisfactory driving record.
