We prepare and provide direction on processes, practices and policies to BlackRock senior management and employees across HR. Our team leads performance and risk measurement and reporting, policy maintenance, and management of risk self -assessments and audits. We collaborate with the functional teams within Human Resources to develop and action critical initiatives that drive us to meet the firm's objectives and mitigate human capital risk. BlackRock's HR Risk & Compliance team is responsible for managing global compliance programs designed to identify, assess, monitor and mitigate human capital risks in the regions where we do business.
This Associate will be an integral member of BlackRock's HR Risk & Compliance team, supporting the management of key HR risk programs. This includes performing risk assessments and due diligence on escalated operating errors and control failures; producing analysis and reporting to ensure identification and mitigation of risks across HR functions; monitoring the effectiveness of controls designed to meet regulatory and legal obligations; updating policies and trainings designed to mitigate enterprise risk; and supporting on focused projects.
Identify, assess, and monitor known and emerging risks, measure internal control effectiveness, and develop and collaborate with functional owners to remediate identified risk issues.
Monitor/manage operating incidents using escalation platforms; perform due diligence risk assessments to analyze root cause and log/track operating incidents and prepare thematic risk analysis based on operating incident data.
Manage HR Information Security controls relating to termination and transfer of employees; perform due diligence and engage stakeholders to identify root cause; prepare monthly reporting relating to late terminations/transfers.
Monitor/manage Third-Party HR Risk Reviews using Third-Party Risk Management platform; review specified vendor responses to Due Diligence Questionnaires and determine appropriateness of responses provided; flag/report inadequate responses utilizing established review protocols.
Draft and review communications (including training content and quick reference guides) relating to key HR risk programs.
Support the management of responding to external client and regulator inquiries relating to HR data, processes and policies.
Support governance of HR policies in the policy library, to ensure timely and regular review of HR policies, guidelines and standards.
Provide risk partner consultative support throughout the remediation of risks and issues identified via audits and risk reviews.
Manage other HR risk and compliance related projects as needs arise.
The successful candidate is organized, able to think critically, demonstrates attention to detail, is highly effective at communicating analysis, recommendations and conclusions both verbally and written, adaptable and able to prioritize in periods of ambiguity, and can positively collaborate and build trust with internal stakeholders at various levels across the organization. Basic knowledge of human resources processes, risk/compliance management concepts, and/or employment laws is strongly preferred.
2+ years of experience in an HR, compliance, or risk management role
MS Office proficiency, especially Excel and PowerPoint
Experience with HR processes and functions and/or developing HR policies, guidelines and procedures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Problem solver, able to troubleshoot issues independently or escalate when necessary; sense of accountability and sound professional judgment
Advanced degree in a related area (MBA or JD)
Experience working in a global, large-scale, complex, and fast-paced environment
Ability to work in an ambiguous environment and drive forward results
Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization to act without having a direct reporting relationship
Proven analytical capabilities; experience with large amounts of data and in developing audit reports, metrics, and reporting mechanisms
Experience with privacy and other regulatory compliance programs in human resources functions (e.g., right to work, equal employment, wage and hour, etc.)
